PTAB Chief Judge Scott Boalick will present current review trends at the Board; followed by a panel discussion with him and two PTAB practitioners Jeffrey Price and Ksenia Takhistova, moderated by Robert Rando, about recent challenges posed by a combination of the SAS ruling with IPR estoppel provisions, and practical considerations for attorneys in evaluating their challenge and defense strategies at the PTAB.

Chris Israel, who serves as legislative consultant to the Association, will discuss current and likely legislative proposals relating to online counterfeiting and enforcement and the DMCA, as well as approaches being taken domestically and abroad to deal with these issues. Anthony Lo Cicero will present on the current state of law relating to liability for online trademark and copyright infringement, including an historical perspective on imposing liability on entities (like flea market operators and landlords) said to foster infringement in the pre-internet era.
