its 1st Annual Diversity Scholarship Event

New York, NY October 26, 2018 - The New York Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation (NYIPLEF) hosted its “1st Annual Diversity Scholarship Event,”, featuring a live performance by The SLANTS on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. All net proceeds will benefit the NYIPLEF Diversity Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarship funds to diverse, outstanding law students interested in intellectual property law.

Current scholarship recipient, Terrell Hutchins, thanked NYIPLEF and its supporters for the impact the scholarship had, and noted his intention to practice intellectual property law upon graduation next year. More than one hundred attendees enjoyed the evening, which included a keynote by Simon Tam, a reception including The Slants performance, and an auction featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and items.

"We were so pleased to receive such outstanding support from the legal community, which enabled NYIPLEF to raise awareness and substantial funds for its scholarship efforts,” NYIPLEF President Thomas Meloro stated. “Simon Tam’s keynote address and the acoustic performance by the Slants were a real treat, and we are grateful to them and to all of our donors and volunteers.”

Peter Thurlow stated “As President of NYIPLA, I was so honored to support and participate in the NYIPLEF’s 1st Annual Diversity Scholarship Event. The Slants, Simon Tam’s keynote address, the diverse and fun crowd, and over $28,000 raised for diversity scholarships made the night one to remember.
