Patent protection for innovation is designed to promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts.  Recent changes to patent law, both legislatively under the America Invents Act, as well as various landmark decisions from the Supreme Court regarding subject matter eligibility, venue, post-grant proceedings, and other issues have ushered in significant and impactful changes to the U.S. innovation landscape.  The program will include a keynote address from the Honorable Kathleen M. O'Malley, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  A panel discussion will follow. The panel will discuss developments in the courts and the USPTO, as well as developments in Congress, or the potential for them, and the policy implications.
